Ms. Adorno has been a registered nurse for over 20 years. At present, she is the Course Coordinator for Nursing 300, Nursing Care of Childbearing Women and Children. She also teaches in Pathophysiology, Fundamentals of Nursing, Health Assessment, and selected topics on legal aspects throughout the curriculum. She joined the College in 1994 as a parent-child clinical nurse specialist. Her graduate studies included working with pediatric clients, childbearing women, newborns and high risk infants. She is an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse and is certified by the National Certification Corporation for the Obstetric, Gynecologic and Neonatal Nursing Specialties as a Maternal Newborn Nurse. She was also recognized as one of the Great 100 Nurses by the New Orleans District Nurses Association and is a member of the Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing. She has received honorariums for reviewing and editing chapters in pediatric textbooks and for Western Schools Home Study Courses. She has also co authored a chapter in Real World Nursing Survival Guide: Pharmacology and has a book chapter in press on the disorders of hemostasis in a critical care nursing textbook.
