EXAMINATION IS ANNOUNCED TO ESTABLISH AN EMPLOYMENT LIST TO FILL ONE (1) CURRENT PARISH-WIDE VACANCY IN THE JEFFERSON PARISH LIBRARY DEPARTMENT AND FUTURE VACANCIES AS THEY OCCUR.

Kind of Work:

Develops and administers information and educational programs designed to increase public awareness and/or participation in specific Jefferson Parish activities/programs; exercises independent judgment and creativity in planning and presenting material through brochures, news releases, workshops, seminars, and lectures; may act as spokesperson and represent department director at Parish functions and meetings; performs other work as required.

Minimum Qualifications For Admission to Examination:

Possession of a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or with major course work in Marketing, Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, or closely related curriculum; plus, at least two years of work experience designing, preparing, and presenting marketing, informational, or training programs.


NOTE: Extensive public relations work experience involving responsibility for promoting departmental or company programs/services through the design and preparation of brochures, Internet web pages, newsletters, pamphlets and/or other informational literature; and contacting local businesses, civic groups, electronic and print media and/or the public to promote and inform of programs/services through oral and visual presentations may substitute for the above degree requirement.

 

A valid Louisiana driver's license* and acceptable driving record are also required. Candidates must also have a personal automobile available for business use (Business travel is reimbursed on a mileage basis).

 

PREFERRED: Marketing experience in promoting libraries or other non-profit organizations.

*NOTE: A valid driver's license issued by a state other than Louisiana is acceptable for application; however, once an employment offer is extended, an applicant has ten (10) days to obtain the required Louisiana license. Kind of Work:

This is professional level work involving the promotion and direction of a program of major athletics, cultural, arts and crafts, or similar activities for either boys, girls, or adults on an area-wide basis; and related work as required.

 

NOTE: Selective certification of eligibles possessing recreational work experience/training in any one or more of the specified areas may be used in filling positions.

Minimum Qualifications For Admission to Examination:

Job Summary/Basic Function:

Job Duties

Responsible for specific administration of ACT Center, E-Discover, Verification Exams; Operate test scoring scanners and administers computerized tests required for matriculation and exit;; Responsible for maintaining semester, quarterly, and yearly reports for accountability and recording of all scores and assessment measurements; Administer, score, and record all ACT & other certification tests; Assist with marketing of ACT Center test and courseware offerings.

Job Title: Support Specialist II

Performs advanced problem determination, resolution and records all trouble situations report to IT. Provides basic training to Support Technicians and users.

College training equivalent to Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent technical training is required. Background experience in technical computer support environment preferred. Some training in the data processing field preferred. Minimum 3 years experience in computer support with at least two years of advanced technical support required. Previous Harrah's IT property support experience is required. Strong personal computing skills required. Demonstrated advanced level technical skills in all platforms. This includes an understanding of multiple operating systems, transaction processing systems, architecture, client/server technology, communications protocols, and various types of computer workstation equipment and messaging systems. Demonstrated intermediate level skills on all platforms. Knowledge of computer system installation, trouble-shooting, problem determination, and restoration techniques required. Knowledge of audio/video concepts for design and support of property systems required. Excellent communication skills and experience in dealing with user problems required. Intermediate knowledge of networking technologies, electronic hardware, software, real-time systems, and mission-critical systems required.
