The joint Our Lady of Holy Cross College/Ochsner Allied Health Sciences program in Respiratory Care celebrated the successful completion of students in the program with a graduation ceremony at Ochsner on Friday, May 23, 2008.

The Our Lady of Holy Cross College/Ochsner School of Allied Health Sciences Respiratory Care Program prepares students at the certification and registry level for careers in the field of respiratory care. Respiratory Care is an allied health specialty employed in the prevention, treatment, management, diagnostic evaluation and care of patients with diseases and abnormalities of the cardiopulmonary system.
The entry level requirement into the field is the Associate degree. Several academic paths are available:
Associate of Science degree (Certification program)
Bachelor of Science degree (Registry program- Associate of Science degree requirements must be met first)
Registry Certificate of Completion (requires 64 college credit hours and completion of the Associate of Science degree)
The Respiratory Care program is approved by its professional accrediting organization, Committee on Accreditation for Respiratory Care (CoARC).

The Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) accredits "Respiratory Therapy Advanced Level" and "Respiratory Therapy Entry Level" educational programs.

Clinical training of students takes place in the Ochsner Medical Center, which is accredited by the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organization (JCAHO). Copies of School and Program accreditation documents are available on request from the school office.
