Congratulations to Nursing faculty members Marie McGregor and Kristy Walgamotte who were selected out of a large number of applicants to participate in the Geriatric Nursing Education Consortium (GNEC) Training Institute which was held on February 27-29 in San Antonio.
The GNEC is a national initiative to enhance geriatric content in senior level baccalaureate courses. Administered by the American Association of Colleges of Nursing, this program provides nursing educators with the skills, knowledge, and resources needed to ensure that the best geriatric practices are embedded in baccalaureate curricula. Using a train-the-trainer approach, the nurse faculty attending the GNEC institutes are expected to serve as leaders and mentors by sharing their new expertise. The program is generously funded by the John Hartford Foundation.
Ms. McGregor and Ms. Walgamotte have joined an elite group of nurse educators across the nation who share a common vision of teaching nurses to provide the highest quality care to the elderly population. Congratulations to both of them!
