To Give Commencement Address

At Our Lady of Holy Cross College


NEW ORLEANS - Maura Donahue, a local and national business leader and member of the college's Board of Regents, will give the address at Our Lady of Holy Cross College's 72st Commencement ceremony at noon on Sunday, May 18, at Alario Center in Westwego, announced President Ronald J. Ambrosetti, PhD.   Everyone is warmly invited to attend.

OLHCC is honored to announce that Donahue and Michael J. Griffin, President and CEO, Daughters of Charity Services of New Orleans, will be awarded Honorary Degrees during the ceremonies. 

Maura Donahue is Partner, DonahueFavret Contractors, Inc., a leader in the Gulf South construction industry.  Among its many achievements, DonahueFavret has won 16 prestigious national awards for Excellence in Construction from Associated Builders and Contractors. Donahue is also past chair and current member of the Board of Directors and Executive Committee of the United States Chamber of Commerce.  Donahue has long been an active leader in local chambers and economic development organizations.  

One of Donahue's most recent honors, among many industry, leadership and community citations, is being named Corporate Executive of the Year in 2013 by the Louisiana Center for Women in Government & Business. 

Since Michael G. Griffin's appointment to his current position in 2008, he has worked to provide access to high-quality, compassionate and preventive healthcare to all residents of the New Orleans area.  Under his leadership, Daughters of Charity Services of New Orleans has expanded from one to five health centers,  increased healthcare access to more than 30,000 patients and achieved the National Committee for Quality Assurance's highest recognition for direct patient care quality standards.

Previously, Griffin was administrator, University of Alabama at Birmingham's Center for Health Promotion, and held other executive positions in healthcare.  He serves on several boards of local non-profit organizations, has earned many honors including being named Young Healthcare Executive by the National Association of Health Services Executives in 2010 and, in 2012, was one of five semi-finalists for Robert Wood Johnson Foundation National Young Leaders Award.
