Volume 2, Edition 1 The OLHCC Alumni "Hurricane" is Back!
Since joining the College in September 2011, one of the repeated themes I've heard from our graduates is "We want to know more about what is happening at our Alma Mater, so that we can become more involved-and be of more help."
Coordinator of Alumni and Community Relations _______________________________________________ As this issue "goes to press," members of the OLHCC community are awaiting news of the selection of our next president. Recently, three finalists visited campus for extensive conversations with students, faculty, staff, alumni and others associated with the College. The three finalists were winnowed from an original applicant pool of nearly 40. When the selection is offically determined by the Board of Regents, it will be publicized widely---including via a special edition of this newsletter. Friends of the Library Present Book Signing April 15 The Friends of the Library present author Randy Fertel(and spotlight hisnew book,"The Gorilla Man and the Empress of Steak" ) Sunday, April 15 at 2:00 pm in the Moreau Center. Copies of the book will be available for purchase and signing. Come out and meet the author. The event is free and open to the public, but a RSVP is requested. Art Professor's Work featured in Jazz & Heritage's Femme Fest Exhibit in April One of the works of OLHCC Art professor Carol Scott will be featured in the 4th annual Femme Fest Exhibit April 2-21. The exhibit, which features 35 artists, is sponsored by the Jazz and Heritage Foundation and organized by the Women's Caucus for Art. The exhibit will be at 1204 N. Rampart Street Monday-Friday 9am-4:30pm. For more information call the Jazz & Heritage Gallery at 504-558-6100 Crawfish Boil April 21 - RSVP Now! Alumni are invited to attend the University's annual Crawfish Boil on Saturday April 21, 2012 1-4pm on the campus. Tickets are $5 and free for children 6 and under. A ticket includes a tray of crawfish, a hamburger and a beverage. The event will include kid-friendly activities, music and fun! It is sponsored by SGA and the Alumni Association.
