Dr. Myles M. Seghers assumed the position of Interim President of Our Lady of Holy Cross College on August 16, 2011. With over 40 years of experience in Catholic education, he has served in significant leadership positions such as Principal of Archbishop Rummel Junior High School and Associate Superintendent for Catholic Schools for the Archdiocese of New Orleans.
A full-time faculty member at Our Lady of Holy Cross College (“the College”) since 1998, Dr. Seghers’ roles in administration have included that of Coordinator for the graduate program in Educational Leadership; Dean of the Division of Humanities, Education, and Counseling; and Vice President and Dean for Academic Affairs. Dr. Seghers’ service to the community has been highlighted by his membership on nine boards throughout the local educational community since 1970. Of special note is the fact that in 2005-6, in the wake of Hurricane Katrina, Dr. Seghers served as president of the Algiers Charter School Association, in the vanguard of a local revolution in improving public education that thrives today. Numerous honors include the national Biltmore’s Who’s Who for Executives and Professionals (2010-2011), honorary memberships in Kappa Gamma Pi National Catholic Honor Society and Kappa Delta Pi National Education Society, Distinguished Alumnus Awards from Southeastern Louisiana University (2005) and from De La Salle High School (1999), Who’s Who in the South and Southwest (1999-2000), and Honorary Alumnus Award for Archbishop Rummel High School (1991). Dr. Seghers received both his bachelor (1970) and master degrees (1978) from Southeastern Louisiana University. In 1995, Dr. Seghers received his Doctorate of Philosophy in Educational Leadership from the University of New Orleans. His dissertation received the National Dissertation Award from the National Association of Secondary School Principals for the nation’s outstanding dissertation in middle-school education. Dr. Seghers is married to Linda Crook Seghers. He has a daughter, Katie, who is married to Ryan Malone; they are proud parents of a son, Matthew Ryan.
