Department/Program: Nursing and Allied Health
Ms. McGregor has been a registered nurse for over 40 years. She joined the college as a part-time assistant professor and has been full-time faculty since the fall of 2006. She teaches Nursing 400 in the fall semester and Health Assessment and Nursing 308 in the spring semester, lecturing on topics in cancer cell biology, renal, endocrine and diseases.
Her graduate studies are in adult-health nursing with a focus in oncology. As part of her graduate studies she attended Stanford University’s clinical specialty program in enterostomal therapy nursing. She has worked in many areas in medical-surgical nursing and has a wide range of clinical and leadership experiences. She established a private practice as an Enterostomal Consultant. A retired Lieutenant Colonel from the Louisiana Army National Guard, she served 30 years as an army nurse. During Desert Storm she served as head nurse of an intensive care ward in a mobile army surgical unit set up in Iraq. She maintains an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse license in the State of Louisiana and is board certified as a Wound, Ostomy, Continence Nurse. During her undergraduate program she was inducted into the Sigma Theta Tau International Nursing Honor Society. She is also recognized as one of the “Great 100 Nurses”.M.S.N.
