B. A. in Theology-Concentration in Religious Education Curriculum (PDF)

In addition to the traditional Theology degree, Our Lady of Holy Cross College offers a Theology degree with a major concentration in Religious Education. This program combines the course of theological study with preparation for effective classroom teaching at the elementary and high-school levels. This degree can be earned by successfully completing a minimum of 12 courses (36 credits) in Theology, 4 courses (12 credits) in Education, 2 courses involving early experiences in Education (Instructional Strategies I and II - 9 credits) and the Practicum in Religion Teaching (6 credits). The degree is a Bachelor of Science, but a Bachelor of Arts degree can be achieved through the successful completion of an additional six (6) hours of foreign language credits.

By pursuing a Major in Theology with Concentration in Religious Education at Our Lady of Holy Cross College, a student is introduced to theological study with the preparation to employ their theological knowledge in ministry at the parish and school levels. Parish catechists and religious education teachers in Catholic Schools will acquire the necessary background in Theology for ministry in church and school.
