Mr. Cahill has been a registered nurse for 8 years. He joined the faculty at Our Lady of Holy Cross College in fall of 2006 to teach the following classes: Pathophysiology (NSG 302) and Nursing IV (NSG 400), lecturing on topics to include Hematologic disorders, burns, Hepatic dysfunction, and Pancreatitis.
After receiving his BSN, Mr. Cahill took a position with VA medical center in New Orleans. He became the Team Leader of the Emergency Room and Urgent Care Clinic. In 2003, he received a dual Masters from Loyola University in Health Care Systems Management – Utilization Review / Case Management, and he took a position as a Manager of the Medicine Service Line. His responsibilities included overseeing the Emergency Room, Urgent Care Clinic, Cardiology Care Unit, Medical Intensive Care Unit, Catheterization Lab, Bronchoscopy, and Gastroenterology. In 2005, he was selected as Chairman of the Management Council. In 2006, he assisted the Nurse Executive in the recovery and rebuilding VA health care network. Mr. Cahill has received many prestigious awards, some of which are: the Patriot Award (Department of Defense), Best Practice in a Disaster Award (AARP), Secretary’s Hero Award for Valor (Department of Veterans Affairs), and Alumni of the Year (2005) for Our Lady of Holy Cross College. In addition, Mr. Cahill is a certified Hazmat, Bioterrorism, and Decontamination Instructor. He belongs to several professional organizations, including: Sigma Nu (Jesuit Honor Society), American Nurses Association, New Orleans District Nurses Association, and New Orleans Association of Nurse Executives.B.S.N.
