Chris Cahill, M.S.N.

Mr. Cahill has over 15 years of nursing experience. After receiving his BSN, Mr. Cahill accepted a staff position in the Emergency Department at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center (VAMC) in New Orleans. By 2000, he had established himself as Team Leader of the Emergency Room and Urgent Care Clinic at the VAMC. In 2003, he graduated from Loyola University with a Dual Masters in Nursing, and he accepted a position at the VAMC as Manager of the Medicine Service Line. Responsibilities included managing the Emergency Room, Urgent Care Clinic, Cardiology Care Unit, Medical Intensive Care Unit, Catheterization Lab, Bronchoscopy lab, Interventional Radiology, and Gastroenterology lab. Later that year, he became a certified instructor in Hazmat/Bioterrorism/Decontamination and was designated to teach Disaster Management to the staff and employees at the VAMC. In 2005, he was appointed by the Nurse Executive to Chair the Management Council.

In January of 2006, Mr. Cahill received a Valor Award from the Secretary of the Department of Veterans Affairs for his heroic actions as Emergency Room Manager during Hurricane Katrina. In 2006, he assigned to the Nurse Executive to assist in the recovery and rebuilding VAMC health care network. In the fall of 2006, Mr. Cahill accepted a position as assistant professor of Nursing at Our Lady of Holy Cross College. Mr. Cahill has been teaching Nursing at Our Lady of Holy Cross College since fall of 2006. He is currently pursuing a Doctorate of Philosophy in Educational Leadership from Northcentral University.

He taught Pathophysiology for four semesters. He is currently teaching Research, Critical Care Nursing, and Medical Surgical Nursing. In addition, Mr. Cahill has coordinated Nursing III: Medical Surgical Nursing and Psychiatric Nursing for four years. Mr. Cahill lectures on topics such as: Hematology, Respiratory, Liver/Pancreas, Emergency Care/Trauma, Burns, Acute Cardiac Life Support, and Critical Care Pharmacology.
