Mrs. Bush has more than 30 years experience in the nursing profession, with 20 years as a registered nurse with a clinical expertise in maternal-newborn nursing. Presently she teaches as an adjunct instructor in NSG 300 Maternal Child Nursing and NSG 420 Community Health Nursing. Topics taught include nursing assessment and care of children with respiratory dysfunction, endocrine dysfunction, community health nursing of children and families. She joined the college as an instructor in January 2003. Her graduate studies included research on the Neurobehavioral Effects of Cocaine on the Pre-term Infant. She followed the clinical nurse specialist track with a focus in Woman-Child Health. She worked 13 years in the Neonatal I.C.U. and for the past 7 years and currently works as the Assistant Section Manager of Pediatrics and Pediatric I.C.U. She holds certification as a Child Health Care Consultant for the state of Louisiana, PALS and NRP. In 1984 she was named a Great 100 nurse, is a member of Sigma Theta Tau International Nursing Honor Society and served as Vice President of the New Orleans Chapter of the Black Nurses Association, Inc.
