Professor Adorno has been a registered nurse for over 25 years. She joined the College in 1994 as a Parent-Child Clinical Nurse Specialist. Her graduate studies included working with pediatric clients, childbearing women, newborns and high risk infants. Professor Adorno is qualified is an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse and is certified by the National Certification Corporation for the Obstetric, Gynecologic and Neonatal Nursing Specialties as a Maternal Newborn Nurse. She was also recognized as one of the Great 100 Nurses by the New Orleans District Nurses Association. Professor Adorno serves as a consultant/member of research advisory committees for local hospitals.
At present, Dr. Adorno is the Course Coordinator for Nursing 300, Nursing Care of Childbearing Women and Children. She also teaches in Fundamentals of Nursing and Health Assessment, and lectures on selected topics throughout the curriculum. She authored six chapters for a Manual of Maternal-Newborn Nursing Care. Dr. Adorno’s Dissertation is A Phenomenological Study to Describe the Pursuit of a Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing by Associate Degree Registered Nurses. Dr. Adorno is a member of several professional associations including, President of the New Orleans District Nurses Association (NODNA), member of the American Nurses Association (ANA), Louisiana State Nurses Association (LSNA), National League for Nursing (NLN), and Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of NursingPhD, University of New Orleans
